Apple, the US technology company, has released version 27.2 of its operating systems, adding new Siri and AI functions across its hardware. The main change on iPhones running iOS 27.2 is that the Siri chatbot can now recall earlier conversations the user has had with it.

Wider sources of information

Siri can also draw on more granular sources: photos sent in Messages, attendees on Calendar invites and voicemails. In the Excluded Apps setting, users can stop Siri, Search and suggestions from accessing a specific app. A new granular text selection feature lets people select and copy only parts of Siri's responses.

Siri AI now supports French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish. These features are available on all iPhone 16 models and later, as well as the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Other changes

All iPhones receive the remaining updates. In the Photos app, captions and comments in Shared Albums can now be edited. The Messages app gets Suggestions for contextual actions based on texts. The update also adds support for Google's SynthID watermarking tool, which helps identify images created or modified with generative AI in Photos or Image Playground.

The iPhone Duo, the first foldable iPhone, gains support for the Apple Pencil and for Edge Light, a macOS feature that creates an on-screen ring light for video calls.

Other devices

watchOS 27.2 receives the same Siri AI feature set as the iPhone. macOS 27.2 includes the Siri updates for past conversation recall and Suggestions in Messages, along with the usual bug fixes and security updates. Apple has also released 27.2 updates today for iPad, Apple TV, Vision Pro and HomePod.
