Apple unveils Watch Series 12 and Watch Ultra 4
Apple has introduced the new Apple Watch Series 12 and Watch Ultra 4, launching September 18th. Both models feature a new chip, upgraded heart rate sensors, and longer battery life.
Following its "Surprise and shine" event, Apple gave a first look at the new Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4, which will go on sale September 18th, with preorders open now.
The Series 12 still starts at $399 for the aluminum case, available in space gray, black, light gold, and dark bronze. A titanium version in natural and radiant gold finishes costs $699, while a ceramic model in night blue or pearl white runs $899. In person, the ceramic finishes stand out, particularly the night blue and pearl white options, while the new dark bronze aluminum appears noticeably darker than expected.
Longer battery life, new chip
Apple says the Series 12 delivers up to 24 hours of everyday battery life and up to 10 hours during outdoor workouts, plus faster charging that adds 12 hours of use in just 15 minutes. It runs on a new S11 chip, which powers several Siri Audio Intelligence features such as Sound Recognition, Live Rewind, and Siri Recap.
Health upgrades
The watch includes new optical and electrical heart sensors capable of continuous background heart rate readings every five seconds. A new Health Age feature compares a wearer's health metrics against their chronological age, while a Readiness feature scores how well-prepared someone is for the day based on recent activity, training load, and sleep. This Readiness feature is exclusive to the Series 12 and Ultra 4, since it requires a redesigned heart sensor array featuring a "32 petal design," replacing the previous two-petal layout for what Apple says are more accurate readings.
The Apple Watch Ultra 4 also runs on the S11 chip with the same Audio Intelligence features. It starts at $799, offered in natural and black titanium along with a premium Hermès edition, and Apple says it provides up to 50 hours of battery life.
