23 Years Since "The O.C." First Aired
The teen drama "The O.C.", also known in Latvia as "O.C.: Kaislības Kalifornijā", premiered 23 years ago and became one of the era's most popular television shows, launching its lead actors to fame.
The series "The O.C.", shown in Latvia under the title "O.C.: Kaislības Kalifornijā", first aired on August 5, 2003, and quickly became one of the defining youth dramas of the early 2000s. The show was also broadcast in Latvia, where it attracted a wide audience.
The story follows teenager Ryan Atwood, who moves from a troubled background into the home of a wealthy family in Newport Beach. The narrative of his changing life, romantic relationships, friendships, family conflicts and the Californian lifestyle drew large audiences both in the United States and abroad, including in Latvia.

"The O.C." ran for four seasons, with its final episode airing in 2007. Twenty-three years after its premiere, the show is still regarded as one of the most influential youth dramas of its time.
The series' lead actors — Ben McKenzie, who played Ryan, along with Adam Brody, Mischa Barton and Rachel Bilson — became widely popular among young audiences almost instantly after the show premiered.
