Poll: 80% of Ukrainians back continued strikes on Russian oil refineries
In a poll by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology, 80% of respondents said Ukraine should keep striking Russian oil refineries even if US aid were halted or limited. 63% said they are ready to endure the war as long as necessary.

Ukraine's armed forces should continue striking Russian oil refineries even if the United States stopped or restricted its assistance to Ukraine, according to 80% of respondents in a survey by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KMIS). The Ukrainian news agency UNIAN reported the results. The poll offers a look at public opinion in Ukraine as Russia's full-scale invasion continues.
Views on the strikes
A contrary view was expressed by 11% of those surveyed, who think such strikes are better halted, even if Russia keeps attacking Ukraine's energy infrastructure and civilian sites. Another 8% said they found the question hard to answer.
How long to endure the war
Respondents were also asked how long they are prepared to put up with the war. In total, 63% said they are ready to do so for as long as necessary. A further 5% are prepared to endure it for another year, 21% for up to six months, and 11% could not give a clear answer.
The study's authors note that despite constant shelling, the share of Kyiv residents ready to endure the war as long as needed has grown. In April 2026, 61% of respondents held this position, while in October the figure reached 76%.
Background
Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine has continued since 24 February 2022. Russia's war against Ukraine has lasted since 2014, when Russia occupied the Crimean peninsula, which belongs to Ukraine, and began military operations in Donbas.
