Grand Midsummer Festival in UK Draws 4,500 Attendees
The three-day 'Bērzes Strazdu Jāņu festival 2026' gathered 4,500 participants at the 'Straumēni' estate in the Midlands, offering Latvian traditions, concerts, and community bonding.

The United Kingdom has hosted its annual "Bērzes Strazdu Jāņu festival" for the 15th time. This three-day event took place on the 8.9-hectare property "Straumēni" in the Midlands, owned by the Daugavas Vanags Foundation, and was organized by the charity "Bērzes Strazdi." It attracted 4,500 visitors.
Attendees came from across the UK and even from other countries. Most chose to camp in tents, while those who reserved early could bring campers. Day tickets were available for those living nearby.
The festival offered a wide range of activities for all ages, from traditional Latvian customs and family-friendly events to concerts by popular musicians and night parties. Many appreciated the chance to meet old acquaintances and make new friends.
The main appeal, organizers note, is the authentic Latvian atmosphere abroad. This sense of community and preservation of traditions is what draws such a large crowd each year.
