“Easy Money Takes You Far”: Latvians Scammed via Moscow, 100,000 Euros Wasted

Police have detained Jānis (name changed), who, although under 21, had already become a recruiter of money mules. In one summer, serving fraudsters, he earned approximately 100,000 euros. He then wasted the money to such an extent that it is nearly impossible to recover and repay the victims.

The scam was orchestrated via Moscow and targeted Latvian residents. Jānis’s case highlights the difficulty of recovering scammed funds, as they are often quickly spent or hidden. There is no word yet on whether victims will receive compensation.
