Architect Jānis Dripe: A Man of Compromise
In an interview, architect, former diplomat and minister Jānis Dripe discusses his life philosophy, his designed church in Moscow, showing Riga to King Charles III, and other significant events.

Architect, former diplomat and minister Jānis Dripe was a guest on the Latvian Radio programme "Laikmeta krustpunktā" (Crossroads of the Era). During the conversation, he revealed that he has always been a person of compromise.
Dripe shared memories of the church he designed in Moscow, one of his most notable projects outside Latvia. He also recalled the time he showed Riga to the current King of the United Kingdom, King Charles III, when he was still the Prince of Wales.
The architect also mentioned physical challenges, such as completing a 90-kilometre ski trip in Sweden. Dripe spoke about the National Library of Latvia (Gaismas pils), which he helped design, as well as the development of concert halls in the regions. In conclusion, he acknowledged that there have been moments worth living for.
