Jelgava, Jūrmala and Tukums Among Municipalities Accepting Storm-Damaged Tree Branches

Following a storm that broke trees and branches in various parts of Latvia, a number of municipalities have introduced measures to help residents clean up the damage. According to information compiled by the LETA news agency, several local governments across the country are now allowing residents to hand over branches and tree debris collected from their properties or surrounding areas.

Among the municipalities offering this service are Jelgava, Jūrmala and Tukums. This means residents in these cities and municipalities whose surroundings were affected by fallen or broken trees can clear their yards and streets of debris and deliver the collected material to designated collection points, without having to arrange and pay for private removal themselves.

The initiative is intended to make it easier and faster for residents to restore order in their neighborhoods after the storm's damage. Broken branches and fallen tree limbs can obstruct sidewalks, yards and roadways, and leaving them unattended can pose additional hazards.

Residents whose areas were affected by the storm are advised to check with their local municipality for details on where and how to dispose of storm-damaged branches, as arrangements may vary between different local governments.
