Arsenal clear space for Guimarães as Nergord nears Everton move
Arsenal are set to sell midfielder Nergord to Everton for £7m as they look to make room for a reported close move for Bruno Guimarães. The 32-year-old Dane still needs to pass a medical.
Arsenal are reportedly selling Danish midfielder Nergord to Everton for seven million pounds (8.2 million euros). The 32-year-old is expected to undergo a medical examination before the move is completed.
The sale is seen as a way for Arsenal to free up space in central midfield for a new, high-cost addition – Bruno Guimarães. Reports indicate that while the Brazilian’s transfer has not yet been finalised, it is close to happening.
Nergord joined Arsenal last summer, leaving another Premier League club, Brentford, for a fee of ten million pounds (11 million euros). During the season, he appeared in 20 matches for the English champion side, with seven of those coming in the Premier League.
Before moving to Arsenal, the Dane had been Brentford’s captain and played 196 games for the club, helping it win promotion to the top flight and establish itself there.
