Artuss Kaimiņš recalls political life's endless chats that drained his time and energy
Former Saeima deputy and actor Artuss Kaimiņš told TV24's 'Preses klubs' that during his time in politics he had to follow numerous messaging chats that consumed significant time and energy. He says that burden disappeared after leaving politics.
Actor and former Saeima deputy Artuss Kaimiņš shared on TV24's program "Preses klubs" that daily communication in politics extends far beyond the Saeima chamber or committee rooms, taking place largely through various digital chat groups.
Multiple chats at once
Kaimiņš recalled that during his time as a deputy, several messaging channels related to Saeima work and political life existed simultaneously. He mentioned a coalition chat, a faction chat, a chat for deputies outside the faction, a party chat, and a cabinet of ministers chat, adding that several more existed beyond those.
According to Kaimiņš, these chats were not meant solely for information exchange or crisis communication — they were also used to discuss matters tied to the Saeima's agenda, including coordinating how votes would proceed.
Draining time and energy
Kaimiņš said the constant communication across numerous chats took up a considerable amount of energy and time, since new messages arrived continuously, requiring responses or at least attention. In his view, much of this communication brought little real value.
Life after politics
Since leaving politics, Kaimiņš's daily routine has changed significantly — he no longer has such chats. He added, with humor, that more casual messaging channels, where deputies shared jokes and other informal news, have also disappeared. Kaimiņš acknowledged that this change now allows him to have greater control over his time.
