At a shareholders meeting, Latvenergo elected two new members to its supervisory board — Jūlija Zandersone and Uldis Upenieks. They replace Kaspars Rokens, who had served on the board on a temporary basis pending confirmation of the selection process results. The board will now operate with five members, also including Aigars Laizāns, Toms Siliņš and Rodžers Jānis Grigalis.

Raivis Bremšmits, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economics, noted that Latvenergo is not only the largest energy company in the Baltics but also one of the biggest investors in Latvia, adding that it is important to continue developing both in energy and in related technologies that create higher added value.

New board members

Jūlija Zandersone is a management professional with more than 20 years of experience in telecommunications, infrastructure and the circular economy. She began her career at Latvijas Pasts, later held leading positions at Citrus Solutions, served as chair of the management board and later as a supervisory board member of Iterum (PET Baltija), and was chair of the supervisory board of the Czech company Tesil Fibres. Since 2025 she has run her own consulting company. She studied at Riga Technical University and completed executive training at London Business School.

Uldis Upenieks is a finance sector executive with experience in investment management and banking, having previously chaired the boards of CBL Asset Management and Citadele Bank. He currently serves on the board of SIA xpate, chairs the audit committee of airBaltic's supervisory board, and is a member of Altum's supervisory board. He graduated from Riga Technical University.

The board's main task will be to ensure the company's sustainable development, strengthen its competitiveness in the Baltic region, and support Latvia's energy security on the path toward a climate-neutral economy. The shareholders meeting also decided to insure the civil liability of the supervisory board and audit committee members.
