Birmingham-based Aston Villa have announced a new addition to their defence, taking right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka on loan from West Ham United. The agreement includes a potential obligation to buy the player permanently should certain conditions be met during the season.

The 28-year-old joined West Ham in 2024 from Manchester United, signing a seven-year contract. Over two seasons at the club he made 65 appearances, including 25 last season, when West Ham were relegated from the Premier League.

Manchester United and international background

Before his move to London, Wan-Bissaka spent time at Manchester United, where he played 190 matches and won two trophies — the League Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024.

At this year's World Cup, he started in all four of DR Congo's matches, helping the team reach the tournament's round of 16.
