The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Thursday the official lifting of the naval blockade on Iranian ports. The order to lift the blockade was given by US President Donald Trump.

From now on, US armed forces will not impede the transit of vessels entering or leaving Iranian ports in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. However, US warships will remain in the area to guarantee adherence to the terms of the peace agreement.

As previously reported, on June 17, the US and Iran remotely signed a memorandum of understanding on ending the conflict and reopening the Strait of Hormuz. The agreement took effect immediately.

On Wednesday, a US administration official read the text of the agreement to journalists during a telephone briefing, following several days of uncertainty about its content.

Delegations led by US Vice President JD Vance and Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf are scheduled to meet on Friday in Switzerland. Sources say the sides will discuss starting negotiations on Iran's nuclear program, which are expected to lead to a final agreement within 60 days.

The US president believes the next phase of talks with Iran after signing the "framework" memorandum of understanding will be easier.
