The Women's Basketball World Cup concluded on Sunday in Berlin, with the United States defeating France 97:79 in the final.

The match swung back and forth — France led after the first two quarters, but the Americans clamped down defensively in the third quarter, holding their opponents to just 12 points, and entered the final quarter with a double-digit lead. In the closing minutes, the US squad never let its advantage slip.

The top scorer for the US finished with 22 points and ten rebounds, with two teammates adding 18 and 15 points respectively. For France, one player top-scored with 21 points, while another contributed 20 points and seven assists. A Latvian referee was part of the three-official crew for the final.

Notably, the same two teams also met in last year's Olympic final, where the US won by a single point.

Spain takes bronze

In the third-place match, Spain comfortably defeated tournament host Germany 81:58.

In Saturday's semifinals, the US beat Spain while France defeated Germany. At the previous World Cup in 2022, the US also won gold, defeating China in the final, with Australia taking bronze that year.
