US: nearly 30-year-old cat scares off fox to save chicken
A home security camera in New York state captured an elderly farm cat named Noodle fearlessly chasing off a fox that had grabbed one of the household's chickens. The bird was left unharmed.

A homeowner in New York state witnessed an unexpected scene caught on her home security camera, showing a fox suddenly grabbing one of her chickens in the driveway and attempting to flee with it.
The attack was interrupted by the household's elderly cat, Noodle, whose age owner Jenna Merryman estimates at close to 30 years. Despite his advanced age, the cat immediately sprinted toward the fox without hesitation.
The fox backs off
Startled by the charging cat, the fox dropped the chicken from its mouth and retreated from the scene. Noodle remained nearby afterward, continuing to watch over the area and guard his territory, while the frightened chicken escaped unharmed to safety.
Jenna shared the footage on social media, briefly describing her cat's actions as remarkable for an animal of his age.
The owner noted that in the weeks following the incident, a few chickens from the flock did go missing, but stressed that most of the birds remain safe — largely thanks to Noodle's continued vigilance.
