Trump: US will buy drones from Ukraine
US President Donald Trump announced during the NATO summit in Ankara that the United States will purchase drones from Ukraine, praising Ukraine's large-scale production capabilities even amid war.

US President Donald Trump stated that the United States will buy drones from Ukraine, speaking after a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Ankara. The comment came in response to a question about the status of a drone agreement between the two countries.
Trump noted that while the US makes excellent drones, Ukraine has the ability to produce them in very large quantities, which he called extremely impressive. He highlighted that Ukrainians are manufacturing drones even in basements under war conditions.
In May, media reported that the US and Ukrainian governments had drafted a memorandum outlining the terms of a potential new defense agreement focused on unmanned aerial vehicles. On the same day, Trump also told Zelenskyy that the US would grant Ukraine the right to manufacture Patriot air defense systems.
