The US military has stated that, despite Iran's claims of closing the Strait of Hormuz, 55 commercial vessels passed through the strategic waterway on Saturday, June 20. CENTCOM posted on X that commercial vessel traffic increased as US forces continued operations to ensure freedom of navigation.

"The transit of vessels through the Strait of Hormuz remained uninterrupted," CENTCOM said. The command noted that the 55 ships delivered large volumes of cargo to global markets, including more than 17 million barrels of oil.

Earlier on Saturday, Iran's military leadership announced another closure of the Strait of Hormuz, accusing the US of violating an agreement. The Strait of Hormuz is a crucial chokepoint for oil shipments, and any blockage could impact global energy prices.
