US sends warships, planes to aid earthquake-hit Venezuela

The United States said Thursday it was sending two warships, transport planes and helicopters, and mobilizing $150 million in aid to help Venezuela after devastating earthquakes. On Wednesday, back-to-back earthquakes of magnitudes 7.2 and 7.5 struck near Venezuela's Caribbean coast, collapsing buildings, damaging the country's main airport, and prompting warnings of heavy casualties. At least 235 people have died.
