The US Central Command (CENTCOM) has reported that two large amphibious warships — USS Boxer and USS Portland — carrying the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit have arrived in the Middle East. According to CENTCOM, the vessels are currently in the Indian Ocean. A third amphibious ship from the same group, USS Comstock, has been operating in CENTCOM's area of responsibility since early May.

CENTCOM did not specify the objectives of the deployed ships, stating only that they are "conducting operations in the Middle East as part of a planned mission."

The deployment comes amid ongoing diplomatic efforts. On June 17, the US and Iran remotely signed a memorandum to end hostilities and reopen the Strait of Hormuz. This document serves as the basis for finalizing a ceasefire agreement within 60 days. The first round of technical talks took place last week in Switzerland.

On June 23, both chambers of the US Congress passed a symbolic resolution urging President Donald Trump to end the war with Iran. The resolution calls on Trump to withdraw US forces engaged in combat against Tehran unless he receives explicit congressional authorization or war is declared.

Reports indicate that the White House has formally requested $87.6 billion from Congress, primarily to replenish Pentagon stockpiles following the US war with Iran. According to a recent poll, only one in four Americans believe the war with Iran was worth it.
