The US military has finished another series of strikes on military targets in Iran, according to a statement from US Central Command (CENTCOM). The strikes targeted Iranian military command centers, naval facilities, missile and drone launchers, and air defense systems. CENTCOM said the goal was to degrade Iran's ability to continue attacks on commercial ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, a strategically vital international maritime corridor.

Commercial shipping through the strait continues, CENTCOM noted. Since the beginning of May, CENTCOM forces have facilitated the transit of approximately 900 commercial vessels and the transportation of around 450 million barrels of crude oil.

The latest strikes are part of an intensified US pressure campaign against Iran. US President Donald Trump has demanded that Iran reach an agreement with the United States, warning that otherwise “nobody will be left” in the country. Previously, the US reported the deaths of two American service members and the disappearance of one more following Iranian strikes on a facility in Jordan.
