Berhalter restored parity in the 49th minute, making it 2-2. The decisive goal came from Ayhan, who struck in the 8th minute of stoppage time (90+8') to give Turkey a 3-2 victory.

Although Turkey won the match, they failed to advance from the group. The USA, thanks to earlier results, remained group winners and moved on to the next stage. Turkey ended their tournament with a victory that was not enough for qualification.
