US announces new wave of strikes on Iran, ninth consecutive night
The US military has launched a new wave of strikes on Iran for the ninth consecutive night, aiming to degrade Iranian capabilities used to attack commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced a new wave of strikes against Iran, marking the ninth consecutive night of attacks. The strikes began on the night of July 20 Kyiv time (7:00 p.m. Eastern Time). CENTCOM stated that these strikes will continue to weaken Iranian military capabilities used to attack commercial ships and civilian sailors transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
Earlier on Sunday morning, CENTCOM, under orders from the commander-in-chief, completed another round of strikes against Iran. On the night of Sunday, July 19, US forces conducted airstrikes on Iran in response to attacks on American service members in Jordan. That was the eighth consecutive night of US airstrikes on targets inside Iran.
