US demands Iran publicly state Strait of Hormuz open for all
Washington is pushing for a public statement that Iran will not fire at commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran's Foreign Ministry warns of reciprocal action if the US breaches its MoU commitments.

The United States has reportedly demanded that Iran issue a public statement declaring the Strait of Hormuz open to all shipping. Washington seeks guarantees that Iranian forces will not target commercial vessels transiting this strategic waterway.
In response, Iran's Foreign Ministry stated that any US breach of commitments under a previously signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) would be met with "reciprocal action." This implies Tehran is prepared to retaliate if Washington fails to uphold the agreement.
It remains unclear whether Iran will comply with the US demand. The Strait of Hormuz is a critical chokepoint for global oil shipments, making the situation closely watched by international markets.
