US Launches Second Wave of Strikes on Iran – CENTCOM
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) has announced the start of a second wave of strikes against Iran, targeting capabilities that threaten shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Wednesday evening that US forces have begun operations for a second wave of strikes against Iran. According to the statement, the strikes target Iranian capabilities used to threaten vessels freely transiting the Strait of Hormuz – an international waterway vital to global trade. US military officials stated they are acting on the orders of the commander-in-chief to hold Iran accountable.
This is the second round of strikes in recent days. On July 13, under orders from President Donald Trump, the US began a series of strikes aimed at weakening Iran's ability to attack civilian shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. In response, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) struck US bases in Jordan and Bahrain on July 13. On the morning of July 14, CENTCOM announced it had completed that wave of strikes, hitting military sites in six cities.
On the night of July 15 (Kyiv time), US forces launched a new series of strikes and announced the resumption of a naval blockade on vessels heading to Iranian ports. Now, the second wave of operations follows, further escalating tensions in the region.
