US Midterms: Estonian TV Show to Discuss What Trump Will Do Next
Estonian public broadcaster ERR's Russian-language programme "Epicentr" will discuss the US midterm elections on 4 November. Preliminary data show the Democratic Party gaining control of both chambers of Congress.

The Russian-language discussion programme "Epicentr", produced by Estonia's public broadcaster ERR, will examine the results of the US congressional midterm elections on Wednesday, 4 November, at 20:30. Held midway through a presidential term, the vote is seen as important not only for US President Donald Trump and his Republican Party, but also for Europe and the rest of the world.
What was at stake
Americans re-elected all 435 members of the House of Representatives and one third of the Senate, as well as governors in dozens of states. The main question was whether Republicans could keep their majority or Democrats would shift the balance of power in Washington.
According to preliminary data, the Democratic Party is gaining control of both chambers of the American legislature. It also won in Texas, traditionally a Republican stronghold.
Possible consequences
Some observers note that a convincing Democratic victory would effectively end Trump's legislative agenda. It could also open the way to a series of investigations into his administration and business projects during the last two years of his time in the White House.
US foreign policy also remains in focus: Washington's decisions on Ukraine, Iran and European security have consequences far beyond America.
Who is taking part
The guests are political scientist Karmo Tüür, Rus.Postimees journalist Pavel Sobolev, International Centre for Defence and Security researcher Igor Gretsky and political commentator Artyom Dudchenko. The host is Andrei Titov. The programme will look at how Trump may act next and what lies ahead for world politics.
