Judge dismisses Sam Altman's sister's sexual abuse lawsuit
A US federal judge, Zachary Bluestone, has dismissed Ann Altman's lawsuit against her brother, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. The dismissal is with prejudice, so the case cannot be refiled in that court.

US District Judge Zachary Bluestone on Tuesday dismissed a lawsuit filed by Ann Altman against her brother Sam Altman, the chief executive of artificial intelligence company OpenAI. She had alleged that he sexually abused her throughout her childhood. The case was dismissed with prejudice, which means it cannot be refiled in that court.
Why the case was dismissed
According to The Guardian, the judge wrote that over the past year Ann Altman had failed to appear for an independent medical examination and had missed other court deadlines. This happened despite warnings that such conduct could lead to the case being thrown out.
The judge granted Sam Altman's motion to dismiss. He also denied Altman's request for attorney fees and costs.
Last year's statement
When the suit was filed last year, Sam Altman, his mother and his brothers issued a joint statement. It said Annie had made deeply hurtful and entirely untrue claims about the family, and especially about Sam, and that the situation caused immense pain to the whole family.
Santos Perez, a lawyer who represented Ann Altman until withdrawing this month, said in a statement to The Guardian that he is no longer authorized to comment on the case but continues to believe in Annie.
