US to Deploy 5,000 Troops to Poland Within Three Months

The planned deployment was reported by the Polish newspaper Dziennik Gazeta Prawna, as cited by European Pravda. The head of Poland's National Security Bureau, Bartosz Grodecki, who recently returned from talks with the Pentagon, stated that Washington views Warsaw as a model ally. "I have heard repeatedly from the American side that Poland is an exemplary ally of the United States. This was confirmed in my conversations, including during a meeting with Pentagon chief strategist Elbridge Colby. Thus, American-Polish cooperation looks promising in the coming years," Grodecki said. Separately, Poland is negotiating with the United States to establish a permanent base for American troops. According to media reports, a final decision is expected within six to twelve months. A meeting between President Donald Trump and President Karol Nawrocki on this issue is planned for the coming months. It was previously announced in May that the U.S. was suspending the deployment of 4,000 troops in Poland. However, Trump later stated that the U.S. would send an additional 5,000 troops. On June 3, Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz confirmed that he had submitted an official proposal for a new permanent U.S. base to the Pentagon chief.
