US and Iran Sign Provisional Agreement: Hormuz Strait Reopens, Sanctions Lifted
The US and Iranian presidents have signed a provisional agreement that lifts sanctions and reopens the Strait of Hormuz, but nuclear program talks remain for a permanent peace.

The presidents of the United States and Iran have physically signed a provisional agreement aimed at ending the war between the two nations. The memorandum of understanding, which has already taken effect, outlines key immediate steps toward de-escalation.
Under the terms of the deal, the Strait of Hormuz is to be fully reopened to international maritime traffic. Additionally, all US sanctions imposed on Iran are lifted. These measures are intended to reduce tensions and restore normal economic activity.
However, the core issue behind the conflict – Iran's nuclear program – remains unresolved and will be the subject of further negotiations. The success of these talks will determine whether Washington and Tehran can reach a permanent peace agreement. The current provisional accord is seen as a foundational step in that direction.
