The United States and Iran remotely signed a memorandum of understanding to end the war on Wednesday, June 18, and the document has already entered into force. This was reported by Axios correspondent Barak Ravid, citing two US officials.

According to Ravid, President Donald Trump personally signed a copy of the agreement during a dinner with the French president at the Palace of Versailles. A photo of the signed document was sent to Iran and the mediating countries.

Hours earlier, the US officially released the text of the document, which fully matches the previously leaked draft. The memorandum includes clear commitments for both sides to hold further negotiations within 60 days to reach a final settlement of the conflict.

This follows Trump's announcement on the evening of June 15 that a peace deal had been reached with Iran. The document obliges Tehran to fully unblock the Strait of Hormuz for commercial vessels, while the US must lift its naval blockade of Iranian ports.

Initially, a formal signing ceremony with both parties was expected to take place in Switzerland on Friday, June 19.
