US and Iran signal peace deal close but not finalized

Iran's foreign minister says a memorandum of understanding with the US to end the war is as close as ever, while President Trump reposts the statement after dismissing earlier leaks as fake news.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated on Friday that a memorandum of understanding with the United States to end the war is as close as it has ever been. He urged media outlets to stop speculating until the agreement is finalized. US President Donald Trump reposted Araghchi’s statement on his Truth Social platform. Earlier, Trump had criticized Iran for allegedly leaking details of the memorandum to state media, calling those reports “fake news”.
