US Launches New Wave of Strikes Against Iran
The US military has announced a new wave of strikes against Iran aimed at reducing Tehran's ability to attack commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran retaliated by attacking US bases in the region.

The US military began a fresh wave of strikes against Iran on Sunday at midnight Latvian time, according to US Central Command (CENTCOM). The operation aims to degrade Iran's capacity to threaten civilian mariners and commercial ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
CENTCOM later stated that the strikes hit dozens of targets, including Iranian air defense systems, coastal radars, missile and drone launch positions, and fast boats of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The attacks involved aircraft, warships, and attack drones, with sea drones used for the first time.
This marks the fourth US attack on Iran since hostilities resumed on Wednesday, July 8.
In response, Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps launched attacks on US bases in Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait. Iran's official IRNA news agency claimed strikes on Prince Hasan Air Base in Jordan, a US drone command center in Bahrain, and Ali al Salem Air Base in Kuwait.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres expressed deep concern over the escalation on X, warning that a full-scale war would have catastrophic consequences.
