The United States has carried out airstrikes on Iran, describing the action as a response to an Iranian drone attack on a cargo vessel in the Strait of Hormuz. The incident damaged the cargo ship, though no casualty figures have been released.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that it had struck locations in the region where US forces are deployed. According to the IRGC, this was a retaliatory measure for the latest attack by the Trump administration on Iran.

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is engaged in a diplomatic push in the Gulf, seeking to reassure allies in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) regarding the situation with Iran. This marks the first direct US strike on Iran under the Trump administration, signaling a sharp escalation in regional tensions. The international community has called for restraint from both sides to avoid further conflict.
