Villeurbanne's ASVEL, the club owned by Tony Parker who will take charge as head coach for the first time next season, has announced a deal with American forward Jae Crowder. The 36-year-old will be making his first appearance in European basketball.

Crowder spent 13 seasons in the NBA, appearing in more than 900 games combined across regular season and playoffs. Over his career he played for the Dallas Mavericks, Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers, Utah Jazz, Memphis Grizzlies, Miami Heat, Phoenix Suns, Milwaukee Bucks and Sacramento Kings.

Career highs and a quiet exit

Crowder's best individual season came a decade ago with the Boston Celtics, when he started 73 games and averaged 14.2 points per contest. His NBA career effectively ended two seasons ago, when he made only nine appearances for the Sacramento Kings. His most recent playing experience came in the Puerto Rican championship with Vaqueros de Bayamon.

Another NBA veteran joins Parker's squad

Crowder is not the only NBA veteran joining Parker's project this offseason. Australian guard Patty Mills, who was once Parker's backup at the San Antonio Spurs, has also moved to the French club. Unlike Crowder, who has no European experience yet, Mills has already proven himself both with the Australian national team and last season at Tenerife, showing he adapts well to European basketball.
