AT&T's smart security system now works with Google's Gemini for Home
AT&T, the US telecom company, has integrated its Connected Life smart home security system with Google's Gemini for Home AI assistant. The update adds event summaries and natural-language search of recorded video.

AT&T, the US telecommunications company, has announced that its Connected Life smart home security system now integrates with Gemini for Home, Google's AI assistant for the home. The company says it is the first home security product to connect with the Google Home Premium subscription service, adding a set of features powered by Gemini.
What the update offers
Gemini for Home can give detailed descriptions of events captured by security cameras, for example who delivered a package and how many items were left. Recorded footage can be searched by asking questions in natural language, such as "What dug up the yard last night?" or "Who let the dogs out?". Users can also review daily summaries of activity inside and outside their home.
AT&T is also adding the ability to arm or disarm the home's security system automatically, depending on how close the owner is to the property.
Availability and background
The features are available only with AT&T's professional Connected Life monitoring plan, which costs $29.99 per month.
AT&T launched Connected Life last December in partnership with Google and Abode. The system now uses Google's Gemini-powered Home APIs, which let smart home brands and developers build AI-based features into their devices. Security provider ADT has also hinted that it may bring Gemini for Home features to its own security systems.
