On St. Peter's Day, June 29, the renovated Iecava Lutheran Church will be opened with a festive service, concert, and diploma defense. Church leader Dace Pundiņa informed Bauskas Dzīve about the event.

The renovation, including masonry reinforcement and plastering, is the diploma project of fourth-year students from Riga Media and Art School (RMMT). The defense will take place on the morning of June 29, with a commission evaluating the students' work and administering the exam.

The opening ceremony begins at 3 PM. Prior to that, a photo exhibition by RMMT director Gvido Zilūžs will be displayed in the renovated premises. Performances will be given by the Iecava Music School orchestra and the Bank of Latvia choir. Speeches will be made by representatives of the local municipality, the National Heritage Board, and RMMT. Dace Pundiņa, on behalf of the congregation, will thank all contributors to the church's restoration. A service will follow the opening.

Although some restoration work will continue after the opening, most of the planned work is completed. Pundiņa remarked: "In the mornings, sunlight enters the church through the restored windows, as if God is showing us new doors. We all just need to understand how to open them."
