Updated Weather Forecast for Līgo and Jāņi: Sunshine Mixed with Rain
The Latvian Center for Environment, Geology and Meteorology has issued an updated forecast for Midsummer Eve and Midsummer Day, predicting both sunny and rainy weather.
Thursday in Latvia will start sunny, but clouds will move in from the west in the afternoon, bringing light, short-term rain in places. A gentle to moderate westerly wind will blow. Temperatures will reach +19 to +24°C, cooler along the coast.
Friday and Saturday will be mostly dry and warm with variable cloud cover and occasional local rain. On Saturday night, light winds may cause fog formation in some areas. Night temperatures will be +11 to +15°C, daytime +19 to +24°C, a few degrees higher on Saturday, but still cooler in the Kurzeme coastal region.
Sunday and the start of the next week will see more changeable conditions – rain at times, with Sunday likely bringing rain to most of the country, possibly with thunderstorms. Days will be warm, locally up to +25°C, nights +12 to +17°C.
During Līgo and Jāņi (Midsummer Eve and Day), the weather will remain summer-like warm, but a new cyclone will approach the region, increasing the chance of rain. The LVĢMC updates forecasts several times a day, so residents are advised to follow the latest information.
