The exhibition “JOY” by artist Gundega Dūduma has opened on the second floor of Benjamiņu nams, encouraging viewers to recognize the importance of joy in human life. Central to the exhibition is the idea of seeing value in intangible things that give life depth and meaning.

The paintings, created over the past year, address themes such as light, inspiration, love, humor, inner freedom, and human strength. The works feature materials characteristic of the artist: black charcoal, rich oil paint strokes, Baltic amber, real pearls, and crystal beads. The roughness of the charcoal contrasts with the shimmer of amber and pearls, symbolizing a dialogue between strength and fragility.

Each material carries its own symbolic meaning, together forming a multi-layered story about human emotions, the power of nature, and life experience. The exhibition is open to visitors until July 9, including on that date. After the exhibition closes, some of Dūduma's works will be displayed elsewhere in Riga – at the clinic “Adenta” on Ganību dambis and at “Dr. Federa centre” on Skanstes iela.
