Details emerge of Ronaldo's clash with Portugal coach, star risks suspension
New details have surfaced about what really happened between Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal coach Jorge Jesus, leading the player to leave the national team camp on September 30. Ronaldo could now face up to six months' suspension from the squad.

Details have emerged explaining why Cristiano Ronaldo left Portugal's national team camp on September 30, following a dispute with new head coach Jorge Jesus.
An agreement that fell apart
Reports indicate that before the UEFA Nations League matches, Jesus and Ronaldo had agreed the star would play in two of the four fixtures — against Wales and against Norway. Against Wales, Ronaldo played 66 minutes. Ahead of the match against Denmark, the plan changed: the coach intended to bring him on for the final 30 minutes, but after the score shifted, the tactical plan was adjusted, and Ronaldo warmed up on the sideline for the entire stretch without entering the pitch.
The crisis deepens
Following that match, Ronaldo stopped training with the rest of the squad, instead training individually. To resolve the conflict, a meeting was held involving the player, the coach, and the president of the Portuguese Football Federation. Privately, Jesus reportedly admitted his mistake and promised to apologize publicly at a press conference.
A promise not kept
However, at the press conference the coach did not follow through, instead claiming the situation had never really been a problem and that Ronaldo himself had agreed to play however much the coach decided. These remarks reportedly angered the player, prompting him to leave the camp, with Ronaldo saying he would later reveal more about what had happened.
Sanctions loom
Under Portuguese Football Federation disciplinary rules, Ronaldo could face a suspension of one to six months from the national team for leaving the camp. Should such sanctions be imposed, there is a possibility that the 41-year-old has already played his final match for Portugal, in the game against Norway.
