Real Reason Revealed: Pitbull Concert Cancellation in Riga Due to Stage Safety Concerns

Ģirts Majors, a representative of the concert organizers, revealed in an interview on Latvian Television's “Rīta panorāma” that the cancellation of the planned Pitbull concert was due to concerns about the safety of the stage structures. The organizers only learned of these issues a few hours before announcing the cancellation.

Majors stated that the announcement was laconic because all circumstances could not be explained immediately. There are still many uncertainties—whether the fault lies with the structures themselves or improper assembly. Expert examinations will be conducted to determine this.

He also said that all of the artist's equipment was safely dismantled overnight to allow the next Pitbull concert in Lithuania to proceed. This required significant technical resources and expert coordination.

Asked whether the problems could have been fixed before the concert start, Majors replied that they definitely would have if such an opportunity existed. He emphasized that the decision was professional and responsible, adhering to strict international regulations, and should not damage the organizers' reputation. However, he acknowledged that the decision was costly and difficult.

As previously reported, the concert scheduled for Wednesday at the Mežaparks Grand Stage was canceled due to technical problems. Organizers promised to send further instructions via email. The Consumer Rights Protection Centre clarified that consumers are entitled to a refund. There remains a possibility that the concert will be rescheduled.
