Atletico Madrid seal 3-0 win over Real Sociedad with three late goals

Atletico Madrid claimed a 3-0 away win over Real Sociedad on Sunday in the fifth round of Spain's LaLiga, scoring all three of their goals in the final minutes of the match.

The first half was largely uneventful, with the two sides combining for just nine shots, only four of which came from Atletico. Real Sociedad had the match's one clear scoring chance but failed to convert it.

The second half followed a similar pattern until the 84th minute, when Atletico won a penalty. Alex Grimaldo converted it to put the visitors ahead 1-0.

Atletico then prevented the hosts from equalising and quickly sealed the win with two further goals in stoppage time, scored by Jonathan David and Giuliano Simeone, making the final score 3-0. It was David's first goal for Atletico.

Standings

The victory lifts Atletico to fourth place in the LaLiga table, with ten points and three wins from five matches. Real Sociedad remain in 11th place with seven points.

After round five, Barcelona lead the standings with 15 points, followed by Real Madrid with 12 and Alavés with 10.
