Auda Surprisingly Squanders Lead Against Ten-Man Super Nova

In matchday 28 of the Tonybet Latvian Football Higher League, Auda hosted Super Nova and ultimately had to settle for a 1:1 draw.

The home side took the lead in the first half. In the 18th minute, Oskars Rubenis delivered a pass from the right flank, and Endrū Apia beat two defenders near the edge of the penalty area with a clever feint before firing the ball into the top right corner. Auda went into the break leading 1:0.

Things got tougher for the visitors in the 38th minute, when Ndiajė Diops was sent off for a second yellow card, picked up within a 34-minute span, leaving Super Nova a man down for the rest of the match.

Visitors level the score

Despite playing with ten men, Super Nova managed to fight back in the second half. In the 59th minute, Samatė Amadu intercepted the ball in the center of the pitch, drove into Auda's penalty area down the right side, and set up Valerijs Lizunovs. Lizunovs finished from the middle of the six-yard box into an empty net, making it 1:1.

The score remained level until the final whistle.

For Auda, the draw ended a run of success — the team had entered the match on a four-game winning streak during which it had not conceded a single goal. Super Nova, meanwhile, had followed up a win over Grobiņa in late July with a loss to Liepāja (1:2) and a scoreless draw against Daugavpils (0:0).
