Auda's European campaign ends with heavy defeat in Albania
Latvian football club Auda lost 0:4 away to Tirana's Dinamo City in the return leg of the UEFA Conference League third qualifying round, falling 1:4 on aggregate and exiting this season's European competitions.
Latvian club Auda's run in this season's UEFA Conference League has come to an end following a heavy away defeat to Tirana's Dinamo City. In the third qualifying round return leg, the Albanian side won 0:4, taking the aggregate score to 4:1 in their favor.
Early in the match, Auda's Ariel Arojo received a yellow card for a foul on an opponent. Late in the first half, the hosts scored twice within six minutes — through Eridon Kvardaku and Klevi Kefalia — to lead 2:0. In stoppage time, Auda's Juba Traoré was also booked.
Shortly after the restart, with under seven minutes played in the second half, Malomo Ajodeji added a third goal, and in the 78th minute David Fadairo made it 4:0.
Earlier rounds
Auda entered the European campaign in the second qualifying round, where they overcame Romania's Bucharest FCSB — a former European champion from the 1985/86 season — 7:3 on aggregate. Dinamo City, meanwhile, reached the third round after beating Kazakhstan's Astana in extra time, followed by a 4:1 aggregate win over Slovenia's Aluminij Kidričevo.
Other Latvian clubs
Of the four Latvian teams that entered the Conference League this season, only Riga advanced to the play-off, or decisive, round, beating Hungary's Győri ETO 2:1 on aggregate. RFS lost to the Czech club Jablonec 1:4 on aggregate, while Liepāja was eliminated already in the second qualifying round.
Winners of the play-off ties will reach the Conference League group stage, while the losing sides will see their European season come to a close.
