Community asked to help 45-year-old Jurijs, fighting cancer, who is raising his daughter alone after his wife's death from cancer

A 45-year-old man named Jurijs, who lives in the Augšdaugavas municipality, is currently undergoing treatment for an oncological illness and has called on the public for support to continue the necessary care.

The family's situation is made more difficult by the fact that his wife had already died of cancer. Since then, Jurijs has been raising his family on his own — he is the sole caregiver for his 10-year-old daughter.

Now that Jurijs himself has been diagnosed with cancer, he needs to continue his treatment, but the situation requires additional resources and support that are difficult to secure alone. An appeal has therefore been made for members of the community to provide assistance so that he can keep receiving the medical care he needs.

The case reflects a situation faced by a number of families in Latvia, where one parent is left alone with a child after the other parent's death from a serious illness, and then faces a similar diagnosis themselves. In such cases, public support often becomes decisive in ensuring continuity of treatment and stability for the family.
