Abandoned municipal building on Augusta Deglava Street burns; witnesses saw boys on roof before fire
On Friday, an abandoned building owned by the municipality caught fire on Augusta Deglava Street in Riga. Witnesses reported seeing boys climbing on the roof shortly before the blaze. The fire was contained, and an investigation is underway.

Shortly before 5 PM on Friday, a fire broke out in an abandoned municipal building on Augusta Deglava Street in Riga. The building is located at the intersection of Dzelzavas and Ulbrokas streets, which was busy with traffic and pedestrians at the time.
A witness told the program that the building previously housed a diner, which had closed and was boarded up the day before the fire. The witness also observed several boys climbing on the roofs just before the flames appeared.
The State Police have launched an investigation. It was previously reported that the fire, classified as elevated danger, was localized at 7:26 PM. At the scene, 24 firefighters, six water tankers, and two aerial ladder trucks remain on site.
