Why it happens
This shift in wasp behavior is linked to two main factors. First, it is a natural stage in the wasp life cycle during which their activity increases. Second, August is when fruits and berries ripen, and their sweet scent and juice attract these insects, making wasps more common wherever such food is available.
As a result, people spending time outdoors in August – in gardens or on terraces – or who have ripening fruit at home may notice considerably more wasps than during other months of the year.
