Australia Bans Generative A.I. Music From Official Charts
Australia's leading music industry body has introduced new rules requiring recordings made with generative A.I. to be "substantially human-made" in order to qualify for official music charts.
Australia's peak music industry organization has announced new rules governing the use of generative artificial intelligence in recordings that appear on official music charts.
Under the new policy, tracks created with the help of generative A.I. will only be eligible for inclusion on official charts if they are deemed "substantially human-made." This effectively excludes recordings that are largely or entirely generated by A.I. tools from qualifying for chart placement.
The decision was made by the body responsible for overseeing Australia's official music charts. The move is seen as an effort to draw a clear line between human-created music and works generated by artificial intelligence when it comes to chart eligibility.
