Australia's National Cabinet to discuss violence against women, bird flu and AI policy

At a National Cabinet meeting in Sydney, Australian state and territory leaders are set to discuss a range of issues, from a plan to end violence against women and children to disagreements over gun buybacks.

A National Cabinet meeting is taking place in Australia at the Commonwealth Offices near Circular Quay in Sydney. State and territory leaders are gathering to discuss a range of policy issues, some of which show unity and others where views diverge.

One area of agreement among participants is the Second National Plan to End Violence Against Women and Children. There is also shared support for measures to address bird flu.

A majority of participants, representing the Labor party, back a common position on artificial intelligence development and data center policy.

By contrast, the issue of gun buyback programs has proven divisive, with no consensus reached among those present.

The meeting reflects the breadth of Australia's current domestic policy agenda, bringing together social welfare, public health and technology issues in a single discussion.
