Planned completion of eastern border reinforcement in 2027
The Ministry of the Interior reported to the Cabinet on Tuesday about the construction of infrastructure on the state's eastern border, noting that the border fence and most infrastructure are already built, but some stages are planned to be completed by the end of 2027.
On Tuesday, July 28, the Ministry of the Interior presented a report to the Cabinet of Ministers regarding the construction of infrastructure on Latvia's eastern border. Currently, the border fence and most of the necessary infrastructure have been constructed. However, approximately 220,000 euros are still needed for property expropriation.
Work is scheduled to be completed by the end of this year, but certain stages will be continued by the state real estate company Valsts nekustamie īpašumi (VNĪ) until the end of 2027. This information was provided by Latvijas Radio.
