The State Labour Inspectorate has commissioned an expert examination of the doors involved in the fatal accident at Riga Eastern Clinical University Hospital, where a worker was crushed to death.

The State Labour Inspectorate (VDI) has ordered an expert examination of the doors as part of the investigation into the workplace accident at Riga Eastern Clinical University Hospital (RAKUS), where a female employee was fatally trapped in the doors. VDI representative Dainis Deigelis confirmed this.
The investigation is ongoing, and further conclusions and decisions will be made only after receiving the expert opinion. Previously, a criminal case was initiated under the Criminal Law for violation of occupational safety rules resulting in death.
According to Latvian Television, the incident occurred in the Radiology department, where safety systems reportedly failed. The hospital has declined to provide further details, citing the General Data Protection Regulation and the privacy rights of the individuals involved and their family members.
