On July 11-12, the Pilskalni track will host the third round of the Latvian autokross championship, gathering over 100 participants. Spectators can expect exciting races including the B6000 class and new classes, along with an LED screen.

This weekend, on July 11 and 12, the Pilskalni autocross track in Jēkabpils municipality's Kalnu parish will host the third round of the Latvian autokross championship and cup. The event will feature more than 100 competitors from across Latvia.
Classes and novelties
Racers will compete in saloon car and buggy classes: 1600, 2000 "Super", "Open", "Xtreme AX", "Xtreme Junior", "Buggy 1600", Mini buggies, and "B6000". A notable novelty this year is the first appearance of the "Cross Car MT09" and "RWD 3000" classes.
Spectators will also enjoy the powerful B6000 class buggies, popularly called "crocodiles". To enhance the viewing experience, "AX Latvia" in cooperation with organizers has installed a large LED screen in the spectator area, showing the most challenging corners and jumps.
Intense rivalry in B1600 class
One of the most anticipated battles is in the B1600 class, where last season's champion Intars Grandāns faces current series leader Aleksandrs Ņikitins. In the previous round, Ņikitins won while Grandāns finished second. Grandāns notes that fights are fierce and every meter is contested.
Schedule adjustments due to weather
Due to forecasted precipitation, organizers have modified the program. Mini buggy class racers will complete both first and second qualifying runs on Saturday. The participant parade has been moved to Sunday before the finals.
The competition begins Saturday with registration and technical inspections, followed by practice and qualifying. Sunday will feature remaining qualifiers, the parade, finals, and award ceremony.
